The Law Department of Sony Electronics Inc. has an opening for a Junior Attorney. This role is responsible for assisting with the administration, drafting, review, and negotiation of contractual documents that establish business relationships with vendors. This position will work with IT business and IT service teams, Procurement, and Post Sales groups, as well as the Law Department, to structure and assist with negotiation and drafting of services contracts, technology and software licenses, outsourcing agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and other business agreements. The Junior Attorney is required to assist with the analysis of contracts to ensure compliance with company policies, government regulations, specifications, pre-approved templates, business and legal risk tolerances, and other requirements. You will be required to track milestones, due dates, contract periods and documents for the Law Department’s contract management software and obtain contract approvals using such software.  You will also be responsible for facilitating management decisions by explaining potential liability exposure commensurate with business opportunities, and for training members of your business units.

  • Juris Doctorate Degree required
  • Must have a current California or other Bar admittance
  • Must have 2 to 4 years’ experience, preferred in software licensing, outsourcing contracts, and/or related IT technology services
  • Experience in consumer electronics preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to all levels within the organization including: verbally, in writing and in a more formal meeting / presentation setting
  • Must have strong persuasive and presentation skills
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment with minimal supervision while prioritizing and meeting numerous deadlines
  • Ability to recognize and analyze problems and then develop and implement solutions as required
  • Ability to develop professional relationships, at multiple levels, throughout customer and professional organizations, in all of the specified market segments
  • Computer systems, database, networks, or related technical background a plus
  • Novatus or other contract management software experience strongly preferred
  • Flexibility to travel domestically or internationally may be required

PUBLIC COUNSEL IS SEEKING A FULL TIME STAFF ATTORNEY FOR THE CHILDREN'S RIGHTS PROJECT


Public Counsel’s Adoptions Project represents caregivers adopting children from the Los Angeles County foster care system. Public Counsel’s Guardianship Project helps relatives and other caregivers obtain legal guardianship of children in probate court. In addition to completing the adoption or guardianship, Public Counsel helps adopting parents and guardians of children with special needs to access needed services and benefits to ensure their long-term stability and well-being, including special education and services for
children with developmental disabilities.

  • The Adoptions/Special Needs Children Staff Attorney will work in the Adoptions Project office at the Children’s Court in Monterey Park, CA, and will have the following responsibilities:
  • Conduct intake and assessment on cases referred by the county child welfare agency for adoption finalization. Identify issues and potential unmet needs requiring advocacy. Engage in intake follow up, including home visits throughout the Los Angeles area, as needed.
  • Prepare adoption cases for referral to pro bono attorneys, including drafting step-by-step case plans on issues that require follow up and options for advocacy; provide ongoing support and technical assistance to pro bono attorneys on adoption cases.
  • Represent adopting parents in adoption proceedings. Representation may include acting as co-counsel with pro bono attorneys.
  • Provide education, support, and advocacy for adopting parents and guardians of special-needs children in meetings with school personnel, IEP meetings, school discipline proceedings, etc. to ensure that children’s educational needs are met and help adopting parents/guardians gain the knowledge and skills needed to continue to advocate for their children in the future.
  • Provide education, support, and advocacy for adopting parents and guardians of children with developmental disabilities in obtaining appropriate services and supports from Regional Centers, to ensure that children’s developmental needs are met. Help adopting parents/guardians gain the knowledge and skills needed to continue to advocate for their children in the future.
  • Provide legal representation to adopting parents and guardians of special-needs children as needed in special education cases (due process and compliance complaint proceedings), school discipline proceedings, and Regional Center administrative hearings.  Representation may include acting as co-counsel with pro bono attorneys, or providing support and technical assistance to pro bono attorneys.

Asian Pacific American Legal Center - Staff Attorney Position Summary: The staff attorney will be a part of the Immigration and Citizenship Project (ICP) team at APALC. A major component of ICP’s work is in the area of citizenship. APALC is an anchor agency in a national effort to encourage and assist eligible legal permanent residents to become U.S. citizens, with a specific focus on Asian American and NHPI communities. The staff attorney will be responsible for providing legal assistance and representation to immigrants wishing to undergo the process of naturalization. Legal assistance includes providing consultations, representation, and education and advocacy to immigrants in the naturalization process. The staff attorney will work closely with ICP staff and under the supervision of the ICP supervising attorney. This is a one-year position with possible renewal.

Asian Pacific American Legal Center - Pro Bono Director 

Position Summary:  APALC seeks a pro bono director to oversee volunteer involvement projects and partnerships, with the goals of cultivating volunteer resources (legal and non-legal) to further APALC’s work and reinforce APALC’s support base by providing opportunities to be involved in APALC’s mission. Under the supervision of the Vice-President of Programs & Communications, the director will work with APALC’s program, development and communications teams to provide strategic vision for the organization’s pro bono work and to strengthen APALC’s volunteer capacity.   The director is responsible for the cultivation of relationships with key pro bono stakeholders (e.g., law firms, law schools, bar associations, etc.) and the day-to-day management of APALC’s volunteer program.
